I am in love with this pie I bought from the farmer's market yesterday. I can't remember if it is made with plums or some other fruit. It is soooooo good!

Farmer's market

One of my favorite things to do on Sundays is visiting the farmer's market close to my house. It's only open between June and October, but I am just glad there is one around where I live. One great thing about it is that the variety of foods is getting better and better each year. Today, I spent a total of $42 there. It's my highest record so far, but I am not feeling sorry at all because I know the quality of food is wonderful and at the same time I am supporting the local farmers.
The mushrooms are so delicious.

Photographing Hummingbirds
Do you know how hard it is to try to get a picture of a hummingbird? Well, I do now. I put up a hummingbird feeder last week, and before you know it, I've got visitors! It was only natural that I wanted to take some pictures of them. So today I finally got out the tripod and the camera, and set them out on the back porch where I would be closest to the feeder.
I had to wait close to 20 minutes before I got some shots. The whole time I tried not to move and kept my right arm and hand on the camera. Yeah, ouch. I found out that tinny movements can scare hummingbirds off easily. May be it's a sign to get a remote control. The first time a bird came by I was so excited that I unintentionally straightened my body somewhat, and it flew off in a blink. I must say I almost gave up after about 15 minutes. My muscles were not happy with me. At least I managed to find a position where I could rest my elbow on the tripod a little, and that was a big help.
At last, a bird came by, I quickly clicked away. I think it was startled by the sound of the camera, so it didn't really get to feed and left very quickly. I did get a few pictures of it though. Pheew!
Yum... I gonna get me some sugar juice in this big red plastic bowl!

New Sewing DVDs in the Mail
Recently, I made a decision to stop buying any more patterns and fabrics, and spend the money on educating myself on sewing. Like many sewers out there, I somehow managed to build a not-so-small stash of patterns and fabrics since I started sewing. I was enjoying myself until the stash got to be a certain size and my tolerance started to run low. Perhaps I am one of those that gets kinda stressed out when looking at a big pile of patterns and fabrics that probably wouldn't get to be used up for a very long time. That's when I decided to divert my attention from collecting patterns and fabrics to honing my sewing skills.
At this point in my life, it's challenging for me to commit to a set class schedule, so taking sewing lessons is not a good option right now. I also want something more than just reading sewing books. So watching sewing DVDs is my next best option. After doing some research, I decided to start with Cynthia Guffey's DVDs. Since I don't have the money to buy all of them at once, I will be buying one or two each month. I also made up my mind to only buy more sewing books when I am done reading the ones I already have. This way, I can learn at my own pace and not break the bank either.
I know all of this will require a lot of decipline, but I will try my hardest to keep my word. I need it, my bank needs it, too:)

Sunday Dinner
Sunday was a busy day for me. I shopped, shopped, and shopped, until I dropped. My justification for that was it was all for the house and the garden. So when it came to making dinner, I decided to go with the easy route. I made chicken kebabs on the new grill I purchased on the same day. It was so delicious and easy to make that I wondered why I waited so long to get a grill.
